WHAT A PARTY!!!!!  We cannot get enough of the photobooth pics revealing so many of our guests’ alter-egos. We hope you had as much fun as we did!  Above is just a sampling of the amazing photobooth photos from the big night. You can find the entire gallery here.

They set up the gym, lights included, helped with just about every part of the process, and were the last people standing in the wee hours of the morning, cleaning up so Sunday classes could happen. Amazing. THANK YOU!!!!  Big thanks also to Whitney Ball for her significant contributions to the party planning committee and for caring so much about it being a big hit!  Big ups also go out to DJ Gwiz, AKA Greg Crane, for spinning the AWESOME tunes and keeping us all dancing hours past our usual bedtimes, most especially a Belger with long hair. To say the TJ’s Holiday Party gets better every year is a wild understatement. Thank you to you all for contiuing to bring the magic at everything TJ’s!

TJ’s Gym Awards 2016: This year, we created the first-annual Anthony Lowenstein Award. In loving memory of our beloved Anthony, this award honors a TJ’s member who embodies some of the most cherished characteristics of the great ALow, including his comfort in his own skin, his ability to make everyone feel welcomed and taken in without judgment, his knack for not taking himself too seriously even while pushing himself physically, and his ability to smile 100% of his time at the gym. The first recipient of this special award is HEATHER LIEBHAUSER!!!  Please give her a big congratulatory hug when you see her next. If you’re not sure who she is, just check out a 6am or 8:3oam class in Corta Madera and find the person with the biggest smile!

TJ’s Gym Athletes of the Year for 2016: It is our longstanding tradition to honor athletes from each TJ’s location with this community0-driven award. People are chosen for this honor for a variety of reasons, but each of them contributes to the TJ’s Gym community in meaningful and lasting ways, and each are treasured members of our TJ’s family. It’s never an easy choice, and there are plenty of others out there who are equally deserving. We like to joke that if you stick around long enough, your time may come!

The Cleanse, The Build, and The Cut.

The number-one question I’ve been getting about this program is “How is this different.”  It’s not all that different, actually.  We are using a couple of components that we have used before, but adding some we haven’t.  One addition is being more specific with macro nutrient timing, and the other is accountability throughout the entire program.  Coach Zoe and I have been putting together a solid, basic plan to help folks reach a few different goals: feeling better, performing better ,and dropping bodyfat.  You can choose any of these options or work toward all three.  Here are the steps:

  1. The Cleanse:  We will be using the first month or so to rid your body of toxins, clear your mind, and set up the plan that you will be using for the next phases.  People tend to want to rush to the finish line, but the chemistry of our bodies doesn’t work that way.  You need to clean up before you can move on to the next step.
  2.   The Build:  The next month is where we get stronger. Mentally and physically. At this point you are past the emotional withdrawals of crappy food, and it’s time to   build the consistency and knowledge you need to move towards your goal.
  3.   The Cut:  This is the final phase for the bodyfat loss.  The Performance and Health goal folks will be continuing on with their previous plans, but this is where the rubber meets the road.  More specific food timing, accountability, and encouragement will be the bread and butter (ha!) at this point. You will be an expert with your plan and will make use of the Kick-Off community to help you reach your final goal.

We will be announcing the dates for the monthly meetings shortly and will be experimenting with using a private Google group as well as a weekly, live, group check in.  The combination of new recipes we will provide, encouragement and accountability from our Kick-Off community, and the perfect timing and ratios of food will be the new shiny toy we will take for a spin. I’m looking forward to this challenge, as I will be doing it with you all, as well.  Let me know if you have any questions.  ~TJ
