TJ’s Gym Workouts for the Week of Dec. 14

img_2809The Power of the TJ’s Family has been in full force these past 10 days.  Here are just a few of the people who came to sweat it out with Diane for her return to Mill Valley, just one week after her husband’s last class ever. ALow would have loved the energy in the room! More memories and laughs, as well as lots of announcements, will be in your inbox Tuesday via our December Newsletter. Please be sure to read it all, so you don’t miss any important announcements or information.

Check out the flyer here and then read this:

The Cleanse, The Build, and The Cut.

The number-one question I’ve been getting about this program is “How is this different.”  It’s not all that different, actually.  We are using a couple of components that we have used before, but adding some we haven’t.  One addition is being more specific with macro nutrient timing, and the other is accountability throughout the entire program.  Coach Zoe and I have been putting together a solid, basic plan to help folks reach a few different goals: feeling better, performing better ,and dropping bodyfat.  You can choose any of these options or work toward all three.  Here are the steps:

  1. The Cleanse:  We will be using the first month or so to rid your body of toxins, clear your mind, and set up the plan that you will be using for the next phases.  People tend to want to rush to the finish line, but the chemistry of our bodies doesn’t work that way.  You need to clean up before you can move on to the next step.
  2.   The Build:  The next month is where we get stronger. Mentally and physically. At this point you are past the emotional withdrawals of crappy food, and it’s time to   build the consistency and knowledge you need to move towards your goal.
  3.   The Cut:  This is the final phase for the bodyfat loss.  The Performance and Health goal folks will be continuing on with their previous plans, but this is where the rubber meets the road.  More specific food timing, accountability, and encouragement will be the bread and butter (ha!) at this point. You will be an expert with your plan and will make use of the Kick-Off community to help you reach your final goal.

We will be announcing the dates for the monthly meetings shortly and will be experimenting with using a private Google group as well as a weekly, live, group check in.  The combination of new recipes we will provide, encouragement and accountability from our Kick-Off community, and the perfect timing and ratios of food will be the new shiny toy we will take for a spin. I’m looking forward to this challenge, as I will be doing it with you all, as well.  Let me know if you have any questions.  ~TJ

PS Be sure to email right away if you want in!

*The TJ’s Gym HOLIDAY PARTY is right around the corner!  It’s THIS Saturday, December 17th at 7pm. We hope you will join us, and we would love to hear from you if you have not yet RSVP’d to our EVITE, as it will help us immensely in planning food and beverages. TJ’s members plus one significant other are welcome. No people under age 18, please. We love kids, but this is an adult party. Very sophisticated.
Sneak preview: DJ GREG CRANE will be in the house, we will serve Mexican food, we will have a PHOTO BOOTH, we will have at least one actual game, and, of course, we will announce the Athletes of the Year. This might be the most legit TJ’s party yet! We look forward to celebrating with you all.

*HOLIDAY SCHEDULE: We are working on some open options for New Year’s Day, but for now, here’s the rest of the holiday schedule:

Gyms closed on Christmas Day. TBD for New Years Day.

*TJ’s Gym MUSIC PLAYLISTS COMING REALLY SOON! Thanks to the encouragement and guidance of Mill Valley’s Tim Piastrelli, we will be rolling out a playlist-sharing function through Spotify, which will allow us all to share our favorite music for classes AND to vote on whose deserves more playing time!  So, so many opportunities for banter, and this will surely cut down on the suggestions regarding Coach Anthony’s music.

*TJ’s Gym SPARTAN RACE TEAM and TRAINING GROUP for APRIL, 2017:  If you’re interested in being a part of a TJ’s training group and team for the Spartan Race in San Jose in April, please email  Spaces in the race are filling quickly, so act now if you want in! Check out more info on the race here.

*Don’t forget to make use of Power Supply Meals during this busy time of year.  Power Supply delivers fresh meals to TJ’s San Rafael twice weekly, and we are hoping to get a critical mass for deliveries to TJ’s Mill Valley. See the newsletter on Tuesday for more info on that! Order meals online, pick them up when you come to the gym, and get a break from cooking without a break from great quality food.  To place your order, just click on the link below!  If you would like to see deliveries to TJ’s Mill Valley or Corte Madera, please email, and if we get enough interest, we will make that happen!

*Pure Pharma 30-Day Supply boxes of all the vitamins you need can now be ordered by monthly prescription and delivered to your home! Just place your order through the TJ’s link, and get your first month at a 15% discount! Here is the link to order with your discount. Feel free to share with friends and family! We still carry Pure Pharma at the gyms, as well.

*The New Bootcamp/CrossFit Lite classes with Allison and Nicki are going strong!  Come out Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30am in Mill Valley if you’re up for just enough foundational strength with lots of conditioning. New people are welcome–no intro needed,  no techincal work with barbells, and tons of fun, so bring friends!  First class is free for newbies, and then we sell class packs or monthly access.
