WOD for Thursday, Aug. 9th

Open Gym is cancelled on Thursday in San Rafael this week.

Getting back at it is tough.  I’m on my third week of re entry.  The crushing soreness has now passed and all that’s left is the ego bruising face slaps that I am being dosed on a daily basis.  A new member actually asked if I was injured during a workout this week.  That felt good.  It’s tough to come back to something so difficult.  I’m sure that new moms heading back to work or getting back into a sport that you left 20 years ago is just as tough.  You feel out of rhythm.  There are people who you trained who are now lapping you.  But most of all it’s toughest to see how far you’ve fallen.  The good news is that the learning curve is small.  Soon you’ll feel the tempo again, the capacity starts to return and there are flashes of the abilities you once had.  The idea is to keep showing up.  I know there are a lot of you who are in the same boat right now.  You took two weeks though two months off and now it’s time to pay up.  Don’t worry.  Think long term, meaning a month or two.  Don’t worry about today or tomorrow.  Just show up and take the medicine.  And who knows?  There is a good chance I’ll be lying on floor right next to you when it’s all over.
