TJ’s Gym WOD for Wed. July 20th, 2011

Sheila, just kidding (inside joke) Susan joined us shortly after her husband came home from the intro acting oddly, stumbling around the house and muttering incoherently.    She thought, “I deserve that free buzz too!”  She hasn’t looked back since.  Awesome community chick this one is.

Had a couple of great sessions with athlete this week who were mostly consumed by “The Grip.”  This condition is usually all mental.  They are not completely comfortable in the program and they end up in a situation where they completely suck.  For one of them it came during one of the team Regional Wod’s and she felt like she let her team down and just couldn’t bear sucking in public like that again.  Both of these athletes are strong and fit but because they lacked the confidence in asking for help they ended up suffering way more than their teammates.  Sometimes the volume is too great or the movements are too complicated or the intensity is too much and that is when you need to treat yourself like a 10 million dollar athlete.  Who is more important than you?  We all need to have the confidence to walk up to a coach and say “I don’t know how to do this” or “I don’t think I should do this” or “What do you think I should do?”  All of these questions are completely legitimate and will be taken as seriously as possible by your coach.  Whether you’re having re-entry after a vacation/injury or you are new you should feel confident in asking for help.  I have been using this quote a lot lately, “Nobody can argue with how you feel because feelings are yours which make them 100% true.”  If you feel something, like your gut saying “I’m not sure about this” ASK!  , because helping you get to where you need to be is what we do.
